YouTube Channel Art (Banner) Design Guide 2560×1440
The first big banner subscribers see. Bad banner = no subscribe click. Mess up safe zones and your text gets cut.
📐 Size and safe zones
Upload size: 2560×1440. But devices show different crops.
- TV: full 2560×1440 visible
- Desktop: 2560×423 (top and bottom cropped)
- Tablet: 1855×423
- Mobile: 1546×423 (narrowest)
Keep critical text and logo within the center 1546×423 zone. Outside that is decoration for desktop and TV only.
🎨 Core elements
- Channel name + icon: big and centered
- One-line identity: "Weekly tech reviews"
- Upload schedule: "Tue / Thu / Sat 8 PM"
- Social handles: bottom-right, small
🛠 Tool combo
- Background: Gradient Blur or Mesh Gradient
- Channel name: Text Stroke for boldness
- Accent: Starburst for "NEW!" badges
- Dedicated tool: YouTube Channel Art tool auto-shows safe zones
💡 Pro tip: refresh channel art when your content evolves. A year-old design signals "abandoned channel".
🎯 Top-channel patterns
From analyzing top 100 channels:
- Include your face (for personal channels): trust signal
- 1–2 dominant colors: too colorful = chaotic
- State upload schedule: sets subscriber notification expectations
